Immanuel offers many opportunities to study the word of God. These include:

Currently, there are two separate Bible study classes offered. The first of these is led by Pastor Dave on Sunday mornings at approximately 9:45 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Some of the more recent topics have included biblical studies, spiritual enrichment, theology, family topics, and personal growth issues. Topics change regularly, Each session is self-contained so one may enter at any time. Classes are lively, informative, and enjoyable.
On Wednesday mornings at 10:00 A.M., Vicar Lisa leads a second Bible Study series. The focus of this one is primarily on the Bible. Past series this year have included a study of Jonah, and angels in the Bible, and they are currently studying the Gospels. Whatever comes next depends on who attends and what they want to study. Note: Snacks and other goodies are usually involved!
Bethel Bible Study is held on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 P.M. led by Dan Collins.

BETHEL BIBLE SERIES September 26 - November 7 7:15-8:15 pm, Wednesdays A new class will begin in September for the study of the New Testament. Those interested are asked to sign a registration form or call the church office at 475-9161. The cost for materials is $8.00. Scholarships are available upon request. Teacher will be Jonelle Collins. The class is open to all who would like to increase their knowledge of the life of Jesus as told in the gospels, the beginning of the church as revealed in the epistles and how this is still relevant in our lives today. The class time is one hour and is held on Wednesday nights from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to attend. |
The Northern Great Lakes Synod's Lay School for Missions is hosted at Immanuel. People may enroll in the school for either their personal edification or work toward an Associate in Ministry Degree.

"Lay School for Mission" Interested in broadening your Christian Education? Interested in becoming a more effective volunteer in your congregation? Interested in equipping yourself for possible service in synodical authorized ministry?
If so, the Lay School is for you! At the Lay School, you will find a program of study that you otherwise would have to journey to a seminary to find. The Lay School has helped numerous people grow in faith, understanding and service. It is also a way to help a person discern what God is calling them to do with their life. Interested? What is it? The Lay School meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in (4) twelve week semester blocks. A person can complete the curriculum in two years.
The next Lay School term meets each Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee starting September 4th through November 20th. Courses offered this fall are: Old Testament, Homiletics (techniques for delivering sermons), Church Polity (how the church is organized at all levels) and Lutheran Heritage. You can take one or two classes or all of them. It’s up to you....come and learn about God and his church...you will be glad you did!!!
