Immanuel Lutheran Church

Renewing Lives

Immanuel Lutheran was established in 1867 as a Finnish speaking congregation and still enjoys its ethnic heritage by observing various festivals.

Today, Immanuel is a large, diverse congregation of over 1,100 people.  We offer a variety of worship services; Sunday Church School with over 160 children; adult education with over 70 participants; a very active Youth Ministry for both Middle and High School; a variety of programs, social opportunities and small groups.  Immanuel is highly invested in the mission of the church beyond its doors.  At least twenty-eight percent of regular offerings go to fund mission programs.  Through both worship and sermons, Immanuel seeks to present the Gospel in a relevant and lively way - as it was intended.

The church's mission is to renew lives in Christ.

Services are on Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. and on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.  Summer worship is Sunday at 8:30 and 10 a.m. and Mondays at 6:30 p.m.  Worship schedules are always available on the telephone answering machine at 906.475.9161.

Our congregations celebrates Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays (and Mondays) of every month.  It is not necessary to be a member of Immanuel to receive communion.  All who are baptized and believe that Jesus Christ is present to us in the sacrament are invited to communion regardless of denominational affiliation.  Children begin communing at fifth grade after instructions.  Children from different denominational backgrounds who have communed earlier are welcome to receive communion prior to fifth grade.

Immanuel encourages family worship, however, child care is provided for children who are five or under.  The Noah's Ark Nursery is located directly across from the front entrance of the church, near the rest rooms.

An elevator located near the Baldwin street and rear parking lot entrances makes the entire facility barrier free.
